Rebekah suggested a breakfast menu in celebration of Dr Seuss' birthday. That's one way to get spinach into Mark:)
We went for a drive along the Bay and a walk on the beach. Biscuit, as usual, provided ample entertainment.
Biscuit had a good time feeling the breeze on his face. He usually does not put his snout out the window but I guess he smelled something good. His paw prints look huge in the loosely packed sand of the beach.
He decided to venture out via a pipe but the heron decided he was too determined and flew away. Biscuit, surprisingly, did not fall in on the way back to the beach.
Along our drive we mainly saw bay front properties for sale. The devastation from Hurricane Katrina is still being felt in this area as homes are being rebuilt two to three stories above ground level.
We also saw this beautiful oak tree carved into an angel in front of the local Christ Episcopal church. The angel, called Sophie, was carved form the remains of a live oak lost to Hurricane Katrina. The downtown area is home to "Angels in the Bay" 7 additional oaks (lost in Katrina) that were carved into angels. One of the angles is from an oak that has an interesting story of being saved by a woman a century ago and then saving several people during the hurricane.
For lunch we went to Shaggy's on the Bay in Christian Pass, Mississippi. The three of us ate on the deck because it was pleasant but we could have eaten inside because Mississippi health department has no regulations prohibiting dogs from dining in. Good to know.
