We actually got an early for us start this morning since we are headed to a BLM site where all the reviews suggest an early arrival. We were happily enjoying the beautiful sights rolling along at 65mph (we are "old" so we go 10 under ;) ) We were soon stopped by a ling line of stopped cars! We checked Wayz to find a 15 mile back up due to car fire will be delaying our arrival by a few hours.
We looked at this roadside attraction for an hour or so.
We finally passed the fire:( Lost car but all the people were ok and standing on the side of the road with emergency services.
Once moving we noted the change of landscape from low shrubs and grasses to similar landscape including tall cactus. Interesting!
Science lesson: when traveling to higher altitudes one must be aware of pressure changes. We fortunately took air out of our Sleep Number Bed bladders but there were other casualties and near casualties. This chip bag was stretched to it's max; vinegar bottles all popped open so we had quite an aroma; at dinner we opened a salad dressing bottle and sprinkled the whole dinette booth and window with dressing; mustard bottles went the same but we got smart and opened with cover; a few contents of the refrigerator had their lids popped off.
