Among the geological formations of Walnut Canyon, which are remarkable, the former homes of ancient inhabitants are easily evident. About 800 years ago the Sinagua Indians constructed cave-dwellings along the ledges and farmed the land above the rim.
The cave dwellings are all along the ledges and can be seen easily with binoculars from the rim.

Ruins of dwellings and storage houses on the rim.
